It is said that when a small baby smiles it's only tummy gas, but I don't believe that. I count every grin my baby gives me as the happy expression of a child that knows how much they are loved.

I love the little tipsy lop-sided toothless smiles the littlest ones give; I love the big smiles that show a tiny, pearly tooth newly emerged. I love the smiling mouth smeared with baby food; orange, green, yellow...it's like a little rainbow. I love the sleepy smile of my baby full of warm milk and ready for a nap.
